All is quiet

All is quiet on the Eastern Front. Family emails swooshing east and west. Bulletins of news -- Judy coming out of the hospital today. She does not have her radiation scheduled yet, so I am not sure when I am flying back to the West Coast to see all the sisters.

Still so odd that some are wired and netted, and some are not. Some have cell phones, but turn them off. The Cell Phone is the emotional leash of relationships nowadays. Podded, celled, poked, prodded, netted, hooked up, dialed-up, and best of all -- wireless. I just don't want to talk to anybody bad enough to cell phone yet. However, I don't know what I would be doing if I didn't have the net for my news, blogs, games, and message communication. Probably reading more books.

By the way, discovered a new treasure - James Alan Gardner. Am reading his Trapped. It is in the same sort of voice as Harry Harrison's The Stainless Steel Rat or Callahan's Crosstime Saloon by Spider Robinson. Ribald, word play, visual, and punny. Is a total thumbs up.
